Leopard in Turahalli Forest Area near Banashankari Creates Panic

The leopard is suspected to have entered the residential area from the nearby Turahalli forest

Bengaluru: A leopard was spotted at around 6.30 pm on Monday in Bengaluru's Banashankari, near the Turahalli forest area. The animal was seen moving along the road, alarming people in the area. Locals reportedly used firecrackers to drive it away.

The leopard is suspected to have entered the residential area from the nearby Turahalli forest. Forest officials were alerted following the sighting. Officials from the Kaggali­pura forest range subsequently began efforts to capture the animal and used firecrackers to move it away from the area. A cage has also reportedly been placed to trap the leopard.

Authorities have also restricted public movement in the area as a precautionary measure.

Repeated leopard sightings have increased anxiety among residents of nearby residential areas, with some people now hesitant to venture out of their homes.

A similar leopard sighting was reported in the Banashankari area around two months ago.
