Legal Dept Asked to Examine Steps to be Initiated Over Vote Theft Allegations In Karnataka

BENGALURU: The legal department officials have been asked to examine what steps needed to be initiated over allegations of vote theft in voters’ list of Lok Sabha elections-2024 and based on their recommendation, a decision will be taken by the State Government, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
On Friday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi asked the Karnataka government to investigate and initiate action against the erring persons over vote theft in voters list of Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Rahul Gandhi termed the alleged vote theft a criminal act during his address at a protest rally in Bengaluru over alleged vote theft in Lok Sabha elections of 2024 in Karnataka.
On his arrival in Mysuru city on Saturday, in reply to a query whether the State Government will act against vote theft allegations before elections to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Siddaramaiah told reporters legal department officials and his legal advisor have been asked to examine expeditiously.
Responding to a query, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar intervened and said though officials are State Government employees in State Election Commission but discharge their duties as per the directions of Election Commission of India.
