Kundapur: Gold, Silver And Cash Worth Over Rs 22 Lakh Stolen In House Break-in

Police said the stolen property includes gold ornaments weighing 308 grams, valued at around Rs 18.42 lakh, silver articles weighing about 2 kg valued at Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at Rs 22.42 lakh

Udupi: Burglars struck a house in Karkunje village limits of Kundapura taluk and decamped with gold ornaments, silver articles and cash worth over Rs 22 lakh, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident came to light when the complainant Niranjan Bhat returned home on May 23 night and found the main door of his residence forcibly broken open.

He had left the house along with his family at around 11.47 am after locking the premises and travelled to Udupi for work. When he returned at about 9.10 pm, he noticed that the front door had been broken open.

Police said the stolen property includes gold ornaments weighing 308 grams, valued at around Rs 18.42 lakh, silver articles weighing about 2 kg valued at Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at Rs 22.42 lakh.

The burglary is believed to have taken place between 11.47 am and 9.10 pm on the same day.

A case has been registered at Kundapura Rural Police Station under Sections 331(3), 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation is in progress.
