KUD Professor Placed Under Suspension Pending Inquiry

Dharwad: The Karnatak University Dharwad has placed under suspension a professor from its Department of Botany pending an inquiry into allegations of harassment of a female student.

The suspended faculty member, Prof Devarajan Thangadurai, was serving in the university's Botany Studies Department. The suspension order was issued on Wednesday by In-charge Registrar (Administration) Prof Mrutyunjaya Agadi.

The action follows a complaint submitted to the university's Vice-Chancellor by a male research scholar. In the complaint, it is alleged that his PhD supervisor, Prof Devarajan, had harassed a female student.

Sources said the inquiry committee would examine the complaint and submit its findings.
