“While the specific reasons for the shifting Playoffs from Chinnaswamy stadium have not been formally communicated to KSCA, we fully respect the prerogative and decision-making authority of BCCI in this regard”: Vinay Mruthyunjaya ( KSCA spokesperson)

BENGALURU: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) “unilaterally” has taken a decision to allot Indian Premier League (IPL)-2026 Playoffs matches and final match to other venues from M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru city much to the disappointment of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) operators of Chinnaswamy stadium.
“While the specific reasons for the shifting Playoffs from Chinnaswamy stadium have not been formally communicated to KSCA, we fully respect the prerogative and decision-making authority of BCCI in this regard,” stated spokesperson of KSCA Vinay Mruthyunjaya here on Wednesday and he said “Despite our preparedness and willingness to host the Playoffs, we understand that the BCCI has taken a decision to allot these matches to other venues.”
Prior to the BCCI taking a decision to shift Playoffs from Chinnaswamy stadium, Vinay Mruthyunjaya said “KSCA in a detailed communication to the BCCI outlined its preparedness and explained the operational framework under which the current IPL season was conducted in Bengaluru. KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad was in touch with BCCI on hosting IPL Playoffs at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.”
Continuing, the spokesperson said “The communication to BCCI by KSCA was factual, operational and clarificatory in nature, intended only to provide transparency and clarity regarding logistical and stakeholder-related requirements associated with hosting such high-profile matches.”
Vinay pointed to the IPL matches conducted in Bengaluru during the current season were widely appreciated for their smooth execution, crowd management, operational efficiency and overall KSCA’s ability to successfully host marquee fixtures of such high scale and importance.
However, KSCA assured its preparedness and commitment to host matches of national and international importance and will continue to extend its fullest support and cooperation to BCCI, franchise, government authorities and stakeholders for successful conduct of cricketing events in the country in coming days.
