“I have asked the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to deal with those leaders making statements accordingly”: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Randeep Singh Surjewala

BENGALURU: “Absolutely, there is no dissent in the (Congress) party,” asserted Karnataka incharge and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Randeep Singh Surjewala in Bengaluru on Friday.
Speaking to reporters over frequent statements by party leaders speculating change in leadership, Randeep Singh termed “Some get excited either over their emotions and make statements beyond their capacity.”
“I have asked the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to deal with those leaders making statements accordingly,” he said and stated “D.K. Shivakumar is fully authorized to deal with everybody to make them toe the party line and not go beyond their limits.”
A couple of days, Congress leader L.R. Shivarame Gowda and Kunigal MLA Dr Ranganath were served show cause notices by president of Disciplinary Committee, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee K. Rehman Khan asking them to reply to the notices within a week.
Both the leaders had spoken about change of Chief Minister in November in Karnataka. Shivarame Gowda stated that the high command will decide on Shivarkumar becoming the Chief Minister and there is no doubt that Shivakumar should become the Chief Minister.
Kunigal MLA Ranganath stated "It is our wish to see Shivakumar becoming the Chief Minister one or the other day."
The show cause notices stated the statements by them caused embarrassment to the party and amounted to violation of party discipline.
