Kharge Keeps Up Attack On RSS, Raises Ayodhya Donation Scam

Kharge, who has been demanding that the RSS register itself as an organisation and disclose details of its functioning, said he was still awaiting a response to the letter he had written to the Sangh.

Kalaburagi: Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge kept up his attack on RSS, insisting that it obtain prior permission for its route marches, saying it was yet to respond to his questions on its registration and finances, and alleging that he would not be surprised if the organisation had also received a share in what he described as the Ayodhya donation scam.

Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi on Monday, Kharge made it clear that the RSS would have to obtain prior permission for its Path Sanchalan (route marches) during his tenure as Home Minister.

"Till I am the Home Minister they should seek permission for their route march. So far, the RSS has merely been informing the authorities about its programmes. They did the same in Chittapur and later approached the court after claiming permission had not been granted. Following the court's directions, they submitted an application. Hereafter too, applications will be considered in accordance with the court's directions, government guidelines, the venue, timing and the prevailing circumstances," he said.

Kharge also launched a fresh attack on the RSS over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Referring to reports of theft from the temple's donation box, he alleged that cash, gold, silver, jewellery and even construction materials had been stolen. He further claimed that a contractor from Karnataka had secured construction work and allegedly received commissions.

"Some people had opposed the consecration of the Ram idol before the temple was fully completed. Yet Prime Minister Narendra Modi went ahead with the ceremony in haste. I will not be surprised if the RSS too might have received a share in the alleged donation scam," he alleged.

Kharge, who has been demanding that the RSS register itself as an organisation and disclose details of its functioning, said he was still awaiting a response to the letter he had written to the Sangh.

"I have asked several questions in my letter. They are yet to reply. Let them respond. Why the hurry? Abhi picture baaki hai," he told smilingly to reporters during an interaction with the press persons in Kalaburagi on Monday.

The Home Minister also challenged the RSS to disclose the accounts of the Guru Dakshina it collects.

"The RSS says it collects Guru Dakshina. Who is its Guru? The saffron flag, isn't it? If Guru Dakshina is being collected in the name of the flag, they should disclose the accounts," he said.

Replying to a question, the Home Minister alleged that the RSS was collecting personal information about him and his family.

"They are gathering information about me and my family. Let them do it," he said.
