Karntataka CM Demands Apology From PM Over NEET Paper Leak

But, the Modi led Union Government destroyed this federal system, imposed NEET, weakened the rights of States and hurt poor, backward and rural students the most.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-(UG) paper leak and sought immediate resignation of Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan.CM termed the NEET-UG paper leak has made “India’s youth to pay a price for Bharatiya Janata Party’s incompetence.”

Participating in a protest organized by Youth Congress at Freedom Park in Bengaluru city, Siddaramaiah stated “Prior to the introduction of NEET by the Centre, Karnataka had an efficient and fair Common Entrance Test system that selected students for medical courses through a transparent process. But, the Modi led Union Government destroyed this federal system, imposed NEET, weakened the rights of States and hurt poor, backward and rural students the most.”

The Chief Minister pointed to several instances of question paper leaks since 2015 in the country and stated “After NEET came into existence, paper leaks have become a regular affair.” There were question paper leaks in 2016, 2021, 2024 and 2026, said Siddaramaiah and stated “This exposes the incompetence and failure of the Modi led Union Government.”

Owing to the latest paper leak, he said, more than 22 lakh students who appeared for NEET exam on May 3 are in distress. Besides, the candidates are compelled by the Union Government to re-appear for a fresh examination.

“When students are in distress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on foreign tours,” the Chief Minister said and he criticised Modi over his silence whenever the country faced a serious crisis. “He chooses silence and escape instead of responsibility,” chided the Chief Minister.

The BJP led Union Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly proved that his regime cannot conduct an examination properly while paper leaks, recruitment scams and exam irregularities have become a common thing under the BJP rule over the country. The Prime Minister should act against erring persons in the NEET paper leak which the Chief Minister termed a “disaster.”
