BENGALURU: A couple of youths reportedly students of Nagarjuna College of Engineering on the outskirts of Chikkaballapura town thrashed a police constable attached to Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and abused him in full public glare on Friday at around 12 pm.
In a video clip of about 1.40 seconds circulated in Chikkaballapura showed a couple of youths held the hands of the constable tightly while an unidentified youth beat him up after the constable along with his colleague arrived at the Nagarjuna College where a group indulged in creating nuisance by altering motorcycle silencers. A function was organised at the College while the group gathered outside and created nuisance before it drew the attention of the public who alerted the police.

Enraged over the police action, a couple of youths caught hold of one of the constables, identity was immediately established, two youths caught hold of the constable and another hit him while abusing him.
The constable was dragged for a fair distance holding him by his uniform collar. Later, the constable was pushed to the ground as more youths joined to take on the lone police constable while his colleague in the video tried to stop youths from attacking his fellow policeman. Appeals by the public also went futile. Youths did not relent from their attack on the constable.
Police said a search is on to nab the youths indulged in the attack on the constable and assured to book them once they are apprehended.
