Karnataka: Mumbai Man Sends Threat Mail to Ex-Union Minister, Case Booked

The email allegedly questioned Hegde’s political actions and issued threats to his life

Karwar: A case has been registered at Sirsi New Market Police Station after former Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde received a threatening and abusive email from a person.

The complaint, filed by Hegde’s personal secretary, states that the email—sent on June 24 by a person said to be Vinit Kacheria from Mumbai contained derogatory and threatening language targeting the former MP. The email allegedly questioned Hegde’s political actions and issued threats to his life.
Based on the nature of the content, legal counsel was sought. On July 11, the 1st Additional JMFC Court permitted the filing of a non-cognizable (NC) case. Following this, an FIR was registered on the afternoon of July 18 under IPC Sections 351(2) and 352.
This is not the first time Hegde has received threats, sources said, adding that security around his residence in KHB Colony, Sirsi, has been reviewed.
