Karnataka: Monthly honorarium of guest teachers to be hiked
The Finance Department had previously approved the revision on June 13, 2022, but later withdrew its consent on March 25, 2024, citing constraints

Belagavi: The state government plans to increase the monthly honorarium for guest teachers working in government primary and high schools across Karnataka after getting approval from the Finance Department.
Responding to a starred question by member Dr. Dhananjay Sarji in the Legislative Council on Monday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that a proposal to revise the honorarium to Rs 15,000 for primary school teachers and Rs 16,000 for high school teachers had been submitted to the Finance Department.
The Finance Department had previously approved the revision on June 13, 2022, but later withdrew its consent on March 25, 2024, citing constraints. However, Minister Madhu Bangarappa assured that a fresh proposal would be submitted to seek approval for increasing the honorarium.
He also clarified that there is no proposal to replace guest teachers or lecturers with part-time teachers.
