BJP’s D.N. Jeevaraj Wins Sringeri Seat Following High Court-Ordered Postal Ballot Recount

BENGALURU: BJP nominee D.N. Jeevaraj was on Monday declared elected to the Sringeri Assembly seat in Chikkamagaluru following a recount of postal ballots which gave him more votes, He takes the place of T.D. Rajegowda, who had won the election in 2023 by a margin of 201 votes.

By an order of the Karnataka High Court, election officials took up recounting of postal ballots of Sringeri on Saturday. The recount showed that Rajegowda had secured 314 postal ballots and Jeevaraj 690. With this, Jeevaraj was declared to have more votes. A report on the reverification and recount was submitted to the Election Commission which declared Jeevaraj declared winner.
