Karnataka Man’s House Vandalised After Fleeing With Married Woman

The attack was triggered after Bheemappa's son, Yallappa, allegedly fled with a married woman. The attackers are suspected to be members of the woman's family

Belagavi: The house of a man was allegedly attacked and vandalised in Barmanatti village on the outskirts of Belagavi after he reportedly fled with a married woman. Police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident and launched a search for the remaining accused, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said on Tuesday.
The arrested have been identified as Nagaraj Balappa Nayak (33), Ravi Satteppa Bijagatti (40) and Ishwar Shivappa Muchchandi (22), all residents of Jaitunmal in Udyambag. They were arrested on Tuesday, produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
The incident took place on the night of June 28 after the complainant Bhimappa’s son Yellappa allegedly fled with a woman from Jaitunmal with whom he was reportedly in a relationship.
Enraged over the incident, a group of accused armed themselves with swords and wooden clubs, barged into the house of Bhimappa .
Police said the prime accused allegedly swung a sword at Bhimappa's wife, with the intention of killing her. She managed to escape by running away.
The accused then allegedly demanded Bhimappa to produce his son. They allegedly damaged a television, cot, sofa and other household articles before climbing onto the roof and smashing roof tiles, causing losses estimated at around Rs 3 lakh.
Before fleeing, the accused allegedly abused the complainant and his son in filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences.
Based on this complaint, Marihal Police Station registered Crime No. 92/2026 under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 109, 329(4), 324(5), and 190(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police said efforts are under way to apprehend the remaining accused and further investigation is in progress.
