Karnataka Man’s House Vandalised After Fleeing With Married Woman

The attack was triggered after Bheemappa's son, Yallappa, allegedly fled with a married woman. The attackers are suspected to be members of the woman's family

Belagavi: The house of a man was allegedly attacked and vandalised in Barmanatti village on the outskirts of Belagavi after he reportedly fled with a married woman. Police have formed a special team to arrest the accused, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 6 pm on Monday when a group of assailants targeted the house of Bheemappa, damaging roof tiles, furniture and household articles, including a television.

Borase said based on the complaint an FIR had been registered against Nagaraj, Ravi, Ishwar and others based on a complaint.

"No one sustained bodily injuries in the incident, but the house and other property were damaged. A special team has been formed and the accused will be arrested immediately," he said, adding that police personnel reached the spot promptly after receiving a call on the 112 emergency helpline.

According to police, the attack was triggered after Bheemappa's son, Yallappa, allegedly fled with a married woman. The attackers are suspected to be members of the woman's family. However, police are verifying whether those involved were from her parental family or her husband's family.

"Those who have taken the law into their own hands will face strict action," Borase said.

The Police Commissioner said the incident occurred within the limits of Marihal Police Station. Apart from registering criminal cases, police will also initiate preventive measures, including opening rowdy sheets and commencing security bond proceedings against the accused.

He added that beat patrolling in the area would be intensified to prevent similar incidents.
