Police have registered a case against Vijay Naik and his female friend at Kumta police station and initiated an investigation

Karwar: A seven-year-old boy was allegedly subjected to torture by his own father in Kumta Taluk of Uttara Kannada district. An FIR has been registered against the person.
The accused, identified as Vijay Naik, had divorced his wife Chitra Naik eight months ago. The court had granted custody of their two children a Class 5 daughter and a Class 1 son to Vijay. He was living in a rented house in Hegde village.
According to the mother and the child’s statement, the boy used to often ask for his mother, which irked Vijay. Instead of consoling the child, he allegedly subjected the boy to repeated torture burning his palm and assaulting him with a belt.
The torture reportedly repeated and the boy had stopped attending school for sometime. When the teachers questioned his absence, Vijay is said to have claimed the child was unwell.
Meanwhile the mother came to know about the incident who rushed to the house where she is said to have found her son locked. The child’s hand was swollen, his eyes were inflamed and his body bore multiple injury marks.
She immediately got him admitted to the taluk government hospital.
Chitra as well as the minor boy have given statements accusing Vijay of continuous physical torture. Based on the statement Kumta police have registered an FIR under assault and also under the provisions of JJ Act.
