Karnataka Govt Forms Panel To Review Criminal Cases for Withdrawal
The committee will examine criminal cases pending before courts across the state and recommend to the government cases that may be considered for withdrawal
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has formed a six-member Cabinet sub-committee, headed by Home Minister Priyank Kharge, to review pending criminal cases before courts in the state and recommend suitable cases for withdrawal.
The other members of the committee are Social Welfare Minister K H Muniyappa, Health Minister U T Khader, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Municipal Administration Minister H C Balakrishna and Urban Development Minister Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
The committee will examine criminal cases pending before courts across the state and recommend to the government cases that may be considered for withdrawal, the Home Minister's office said in a release on Sunday.
The panel will take into account the nature and background of each case, among other relevant aspects, before submitting its opinion on eligible cases in accordance with the rules, a press release said.
