Karnataka: Early trends show BJP leading in 16 seats

Mangaluru: The early trend in Karnataka shows BJP leading in 16 seats while Congress and JD(S) in 9 and 3 respectively.

BJP won 25 seats in the 2019 election while JD(S), Congress, and Independent had one seat each. This time BJP and JD(S) have joined hands in Karnataka. The coalition is leading in 19 seats.

While JD(S) is leading in all the three constituencies it is contesting, BJP is trailing in 9 places.

Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Khuba is trailing against Sagar Eshwar Khandre. Sagar is the son of Karnataka’s Forest and Ecology Minister Eshwar Khandre.

Another Cabinet Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s daughter Priyanka who is contesting from Chikkodi is leading against sitting BJP MP Annasaheb Shankar Jolle.

In Gulbarga, the home turf of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress candidate Radhakrishna, the son-in-law of Kharge is maintaining a lead against sitting MP Dr Umesh Jadhav.

Former Minister Sriramulu is trailing in Bellary against Congress party’s E Tukaram.

Congress has also maintained a lead in Raichur, Koppal, Davangere, Chamarajanagar, and Bangalore Central.
