Karnataka: Congress Govt Gets Fresh Ammunition After Pralhad Joshi’s Remarks

Speaking at the launch of the BJP’s Bheema Hejje outreach program in Bengaluru on Friday, Joshi had said, The Congress is not only anti-Hindu but also anti-Dalit

Mangaluru: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s recent remarks have given the Congress government fresh ammunition to target the BJP, accusing it of not considering Dalits as part of the Hindu fold.

Speaking at the launch of the BJP’s Bheema Hejje outreach program in Bengaluru on Friday, Joshi had said, “The Congress is not only anti-Hindu but also anti-Dalit,” adding that this message would be taken to the people through the BJP's campaign.
Congress leaders have seized on the statement, interpreting it as a reflection of the BJP and RSS’s ideological stance that separates Dalits from the broader Hindu identity.
“Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has revealed the true inner mindset of the RSS and BJP, said a strong reaction from critics, thanking him for the clarity.
Reacting sharply to Joshi’s statement Priyank Kharge in a post on X said Joshi had inadvertently revealed the true mindset of the RSS and BJP, which seek to divide society along caste and religious lines.
In a strongly worded statement, Kharge accused Joshi of exposing the “divisive ideology” of the Sangh Parivar. “Thank you, Mr. Joshi, for your clarity. You have honestly articulated what the RSS and BJP truly believe—that Hindus are separate, Dalits are separate, and Sanatanis are separate,” Kharge said.
He added that the belief that there are “no Hindus in Sanatana and no Dalits among Hindus” is an inherent truth within the Sangh Parivar. “It is good that people are now able to understand this reality,” he said.
Kharge invoked Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s decision to leave Hinduism and embrace Buddhism as a result of caste-based discrimination. “It was this very mindset that made Babasaheb say, ‘I was born a Hindu, but I will not die a Hindu,’” he pointed out.
“If BJP leaders in Karnataka truly respect Ambedkar’s ideology, they must celebrate Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Day and read Babasaheb’s writings on caste discrimination,” Kharge asserted.
