Karnataka: Cong MLA Alleges BJP Plot to Poach 55 MLAs Using Central Agencies

Kashappanavar alleged that BJP emissaries were visiting Congress legislators with threats of action by the ED and the CBI

Bagalkot: Congress MLA from Hungund, Vijaynand Kashappanavar, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to poach 55 Congress MLAs in Karnataka by misusing central investigative agencies.

Addressing the media, Kashappanavar alleged that BJP emissaries were visiting Congress legislators with threats of action by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“They are sending BJP agents to our homes with a clear message — either join the BJP or face ED and CBI scrutiny,” he said. “They can come after me too. I have nothing to hide and I am not afraid.”

He cited recent raids on Congress MP Thukaram and MLAs Bharat Reddy and B. Nagendra as examples of what he called "politically motivated intimidation."

“This is a conspiracy to destabilize the Congress. Instead of engaging in a democratic battle, the BJP is using fear tactics. If they truly have the courage, let them face the people in 2028 — we will give them a fitting reply,” Kashappanavar asserted.
