Karnataka CM asks AAI to plan for expansion works of Mysuru airport
He explained to the Civil Aviation Minister the officials of Cauvery Irrigation Corporation Limited submitted a report in November, 2024 highlighting steps to divert/shift 2 ditches and 7 canals falling in the runway expansion area which amounts to Rs 70 crore while Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) officials estimated the cost of re-routing HT lines at Rs 31.82 crore

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday urged Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to plan the expansion works of the runway at Mysuru airport at the earliest for which the land acquisition of 240 acres is in final stages. The Mysuru airport is located about 12-km from the heart of the Mysuru city on Mysuru-Ooty Highway.
Siddaramaiah also appealed to the Civil Aviation Minister to bear the cost of utility sifting such as re-routing HT power lines and diversion/shifting of 2 ditches and 7 canals in the runway expansion area, amounting to Rs 101. 82 crore.

The State Government has borne the land acquisition cost of Rs 319.14 crore to acquire 240 acres required for the runway expansion of Mysuru Airport, Chief Minister brought to the notice of the Civil Aviation Minister and asked the Union Minister to take-up runway expansion/development works at the Mysuru Airport as soon as possible.
