BENGALURU: Drawing a comparison between hike in price of gas cylinder by Rs 50 announced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Union Government with that of milk price rise by Rs 4 a litre, State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah “Are you importing milk from the international market?” and defended the hike in gas cylinders saying “The Union Government increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 a litre owing to rise in crude oil prices in the international market.”
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Vijayendra pointed to the increase in the prices of 48 essential commodities by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah led State Government and criticized the CM saying “It looks like Siddaramaiah has formed an expert committee solely for price hikes.”
The BJP chief questioned the rationale of the Chief Minister over constant price rise in essential commodities and stated price of milk a lire has gone by Rs 9 while fuel prices have gone up by Rs 7.50 and stated “Although Union Government has increased taxes on fuel prices but it hasn’t passed that burden on the common man and companies are bearing it.”
