Karnataka: BJP MLA Walsk Out Of Function Over Trimming Singing Vande Mataram

BENGALURU: Expressing objection to the singing first two stanzas of national song ‘Vande Mataram’ at all State Governments events, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Channabasappa on Monday staged a walk out of Internal Democracy Day programme in Shivamogga city stating “I will not be a part of programme where Vande Mataram is disrespected.”

In may be recalled here, the State Government ordered singing only first two stanzas of national song ‘Vande Mataram’ at all State Government programmes except in programmes attended by President of India, Prime Minister and Governor.

At the International Democracy Day programme, Channabasappa took exception to singing only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram and questioned the Deputy Commissioner on stage “Is there a separate democratic step-up for a State and Union Government?”

Someone in the audience brought to the notice of the MLA over the recent order by the State Government mandating singing only first two stanzas of Vande Mataram at all State level programmes and in reply, the MLA wanted “Where is the order?” Responding to the audience, the MLA “It is wrong on part of the State Government to go against the law.”

A member in the audience told the MLA “If order is not obeyed by the officials then they will be served notices.” However, the MLA was in no mood to listen and objected singing first two stanzas of Vande Mataram and walked out of stage and later from the programme stating that ‘I will not be part of the programme where Vande Mataram is disrespected.”
