Karnataka: BJP MLA Munirathna Charged in Intimidation and Atrocity Cases
Bengaluru: Sleuths of Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday submitted charge sheet to Special Court exclusively to deal with criminal cases against MPs/MLAs, Bengaluru against accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Munirathna in intimidation and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases. Presently, Munirathna representing Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly seat in Bengaluru is on bail.
The BJP MLA is charged with causing intimidation to a contractor Velu Nayakar. Munirathna is also booked under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The contractor had registered a complaint against the MLA on September 13 this year at Vyalikaval police station in Bengaluru city.
Apart from being booked in SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act, the BJP MLA is also booked under 153, 153 A, 504 and 509 of Indian Penal Code. The SIT is also investigation rape charge against Munirathna.
As per a press release from CID office, Bengaluru, the charge sheet against Munirathna contains 53 witnesses and as many as 157 documentary evidences during its investigation. The SIT charge sheet is of 590 pages and includes 3 who are eyewitnesses in the case. The eye witnesses have given their statements before the Judge.
The release said an audio clip of the alleged caste abuse by the BJP MLA against the Contractor was subjected for tests by Forensic Science Laboratory and the FSL tests confirmed the audio clip conversation matched with the audio sample in the audio conversation with that of the voice of the accused person.
