Karnataka: Bagalkot Gears Up for Chalukya Utsav 2025
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the festival on the opening day in Badami

Bagalkot: The heritage towns of Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole—renowned for their rock-cut caves and iconic temple architecture—are gearing up to host this year’s Chalukya Utsav from December 19 to 21. The district administration has intensified preparations to showcase the region’s historical splendour during the three-day cultural festival.
Excise Minister and Bagalkot district in-charge RB Timmapur on Wednesday directed officials to complete all arrangements on priority. Chairing a preliminary meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he announced that the Utsav will be held in Badami on December 19, Pattadakal on December 20, and Aihole on December 21.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the festival on the opening day in Badami. With limited time remaining, Timmapur instructed officials from all departments to ensure flawless planning. He also asked the 20 committees formed for the event to submit their detailed reports within two days.
The Minister directed authorities to set up large stages at all three venues and ensure smooth arrangements for transport, roads, drinking water, sanitation and cleanliness. He said cultural programmes and seminars must run seamlessly and emphasised that the artist lineup should include 50 percent local talent and 50 percent performers from outside Karnataka. He also urged officials to release honorariums correctly and on time, cautioning departments against mismanagement.
Timmapur further instructed officers to prepare a comprehensive blueprint for the festival along with a detailed estimate of expenses.
