Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi is planning to train youngsters in technical areas of cricket such as pitch curation, umpiring, scoring, video analysis and physiotherapy, besides playing the game.
IT-BT and Home Minister Priyank Kharge, who is also the in-charge minister of Kalaburagi, held a meeting with Karnataka Cricket Association president Venkatesh Prasad and other office-bearers on Wednesday to discuss a training programme for talented youngsters in the district.
The programme is being planned jointly by the Kalaburagi Next Foundation and the Karnataka Cricket Association. It will provide training in different technical aspects of cricket and introduce youngsters to career opportunities in the sport beyond playing.
The meeting discussed training in pitch analysis, coaching, pitch curation, scoring, umpiring, video analysis and physiotherapy.
Kharge also discussed with KCA office-bearers measures to ensure security and the safety of spectators and the public during cricket tournaments held in Kalaburagi.
