Kalaburagi Student Who Died by Suicide Had Failed in One PUC Subject

Police examine all angles after reports revealed the student had failed one PUC subject

Kalaburagi: It has emerged that the 18-year-old girl who allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Kalaburagi on Saturday had failed in one subject in the second-year PUC examination, even as many were under the impression that she had secured 92 per cent marks.

Speculation had surfaced that uncertainty surrounding the NEET examination process may have caused distress.

The student had recently appeared for the II PUC examination and had also written the NEET examination. Her father too had stated while speaking to the media that she had secured 92 per cent in the PUC examination.

However, sources later indicated that she had failed in Mathematics, a detail that had reportedly not been disclosed to many people. Police sources said investigators are examining all possible angles related to the girl's death.

Sources further said the family had been planning to arrange a loan to support her higher education.

In his complaint to the police on Saturday, the girl’s father stated that his daughter may have taken the extreme step due to distress over a personal issue. The family has told investigators that they do not suspect anyone’s involvement in the incident.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at Station Bazar Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is underway.
