Kalaburagi District Police Move Towards Traffic e-challan System

Kalaburagi: The Kalaburagi district police have installed 12 AI-based cameras at six locations to detect traffic violations, with an e-challan system set to be introduced.
The cameras have been installed along major highways in the district and will monitor violations such as riding without a helmet, triple riding, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts, overspeeding and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Kalaburagi Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasulu said the traffic e-challan system was being introduced in the district to improve road safety and ensure better enforcement of traffic rules.
“We are implementing the traffic e-challan system in Kalaburagi district. We will run the system on a trial basis for two to three weeks and then implement it on a full scale,” the SP said.
The cameras have been installed at six locations — the Goburawadi-Chowdapur, Jevargi-Sindagi, Kalaburagi-Humnabad, Kalaburagi-Sedam, Kalaburagi-Aland and Shahabad-Yadgir highways.
The police said the AI-based system would identify traffic violations through the cameras. Once the system is fully operational, fines will be imposed on motorists for violations detected by the cameras.
An e-challan link will be sent to the mobile number registered with the vehicle. Motorists can pay the fine online using the link or visit the concerned police station to make the payment.
