The interfaith couple had reportedly been in a relationship for the past nine years and were staying together in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a techie couple in a live-in relationship died by suicide at an apartment in the Kothanur Police Station limits in the city. The incident came to light on Tuesday. While the man had hung himself, his partner reportedly jumped from the 17th floor of the apartment building after seeing his body. The interfaith couple had reportedly been in a relationship for the past nine years and were staying together in Bengaluru.

As per police reports, the man, identified as Kunta Bhanuchander Reddy (32), hailing from Annasagar, Mulugu mandal of Siddipet district, was the eldest son of Kunta Raghupathi Reddy and Jayamma. After completing his education, he moved to Canada in search of employment thirteen years ago. He had come back to India two years ago and was working as a software professional in an IT company in Bengaluru.
His partner, Shazia Siraj (31), hailed from Medchal. They had studied together and fallen in love. After he returned from Canada, they began living together at a flat in Nikoo Homes, Bhartiya City, on Thanisandra Main Road in the city.
When Shazia had gone out, Bhanuchander reportedly hung himself at home on Monday morning. When Shazia returned, there was no response, and she sought the help of the building staff to break open the door. On discovering his body, Shazia jumped from the 17th floor of the building where they were staying.
Police stated that Bhanuchander, who had been suffering from health issues, was said to be depressed for the past few days and is believed to have committed suicide due to the same.
The couple’s family members were informed and rushed to Bengaluru immediately. After the postmortem, the bodies were handed over to the respective families. The police officer further said Reddy left behind a suicide note, stating that no one should be held responsible for his death while explaining his health condition. Neither family of the deceased was aware of their relationship. Also, his family members were not aware that Bhanuchandere had come back to Bengaluru from Canada or of his relationship, while Shazia’s family refused to divulge any details about their relationship.
Kothanur police have registered two separate cases of unnatural death and are investigating.
