“How Can a Beef-Eater Perform Cow Puja?” LoP Slams Selection of Banu Musthaq for Dasara

At a press conference here, Ashoka pointed out Muslims do not perform idol worship (a person inaugurating Dasara festivities should have to go by Hindu traditions) and stated the date for opening the Dasara festivities is fixed as per Hindu calendar as well as festivities are conducted as per the Hindu scriptures.

Bengaluru:While objecting to International Booker Prize-2025 winner Banu Musthaq opening Mysuru Dasara festivities on September 22 atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru, Leader of Opposition in Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA R. Ashoka on Friday called Banu Musthaq a beef-eater and questioned “How can Banu Musthaq a cow (meat) eater perform puja during opening Dasara festivities where she has to offer prayers to Nandi dwaja (flag) and cow.”

“The BJP leaders are planning to hold a fight over the issue and the fight is to save Chamundeshwari temple (maintain its sanctity),” said the Leader of Opposition. Ashoka said “Dasara festivities are of Hindus. The State Government has turned the festivities into vote bank politics including the State deity.”

Reacting to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s statement that Chamundeshwari temple is not the sole property of Hindus, Ashoka said “If the ruling Congress party says that Chamundeshari temple is not property of Hindus, then when will they appoint mullahs as priests to the temple?”

He termed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of being “anti-Hindu” and alleged “Whenever Siddaramaiah comes to power, murders of Hindus take place.
