Governament Pats Sit With Cash Reward Over Conviction To Ex-MP In A Rape Case

BENGALURU: As many as 30 police personnel and officers of Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the State Government under Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Cyber Crime police station have been rewarded with cash prize of Rs 25 lakh to be distributed among them by the State Government considering their efforts in getting conviction to former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna in a rape case of 48-year-old woman. The High Court sentenced Prajwal Revanna to life imprisonment in August, 2025.

In announcing the cash reward for SIT members, the State Government said the members of SIT handled the case with diligence and dexterity at every level of the investigation.
Lauding the efforts of SIT members, the State Government stated Prajwal Revanna faced 4 cases while his father and MLA H.D. Revanna had a case against him. The SIT charge sheeted both in the cases registered against them. The High Court of Karnataka pronounced its order against Prajwal Revanna and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
In appreciation of their efforts in the conviction of Prajwal Revanna, the State Government stated it was pleased to announce cash reward for as many as 30 members of SIT which probed the charges against Prajwal Revanna. As per the reward announced, SIT headed by ADGP, CID B.K. Singh and Seema Latkar, current Commissioner of Police, Mysuru city get Rs 2.5 lakh each.
During general election (April)-2024 , a couple of videos were circulated in Hassan district alleged to contain sexual harassment by Prajwal Revanna and the videos in circulatrion made Prajwal flee the country and only return later from Munich in Germany. He, however, returned from abroad on June 1, 2024 leading to arrest at the Kempegowda International Airport by SIT sleuths. Prajwal is lodged in Central Prison, Bengaluru.
