Gandhi Statue Vandalised In Haveri, One Arrested

HAVERI: The statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Circle in Haveri town was vandalised during the intervening night of April 19–20, police said.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by Haveri City municipal council commissioner H. Kantaraju. Based on this, the Haveri Town police registered a case under the BNS and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.

After conducting an investigation, the police identified and apprehended the accused, Vaibhav, a resident of Haveri, and initiated legal action against him. During interrogation, police found that the accused is reportedly suffering from mental illness. Further investigation is underway.
