Former MP Files Papers To Fight Milk Union Director Elections

Sources told Deccan Chronicle Suresh on his win the director’s election to BAMUL, he is all set to ascend the post of president of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), a subsidiary of the State Government.

Bengaluru: A three-time former Lok Sabha member D.K. Suresh, younger brother of president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, on Saturday filed his papers to fight ensuing Director’s post (administrative) of Bangalore Milk Union Limited (BAMUL).

Sources told Deccan Chronicle Suresh on his win the director’s election to BAMUL, he is all set to ascend the post of president of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), a subsidiary of the State Government. However, D.K. Suresh said “No discussion has taken place on who should be the KMF president so far.”

Suresh will fight for the director’s post from Kanakapura in Ramanagar taluk. Kanakapura Assembly seat is represented by his brother D.K. Shivakumar.

Having won Bengaluru Rural parliamentary seat for three times in a row, Congress nominee Suresh lost Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha election to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee noted cardiologist Dr C.N. Manjunath, son-in-law of former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, in May 2024.

After filing papers, Suresh told reporters he entered the fray bowing to the pressure mounted on him by his followers/supporters/leaders of Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural and Ramnagar and the meeting with them lasted till 2 am on Saturday before he made up his mind to contest the director's post.

Asked him eyeing the KMF President post, Suresh said “There is nothing special about it. The post of BAMUL has been represented by leaders of the Congress party. Leaders wish I could be with them.”

To a query, Suresh said, speculations/discussions have been taking place in public domain on me eying KMF president’s post but “Our aim is to safeguard the interests of farmers.”

“I wish to bring in considerable changes in the lives of farmers/milk producers,” said Suresh over his contest.
