Former Karnataka MLA, Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, Heroically Saves US Passenger's Life Mid-Air

Shortly after takeoff, the passenger suffered severe chest pain, intense shivering, and uneasiness, leading to her fainting and completely losing her pulse

Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, a former Karnataka MLA and currently AICC secretary, earned widespread praise, including from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for heroically saving the life of a 34-year-old American woman experiencing a critical mid-air medical emergency on a Goa-New Delhi flight.

Shortly after takeoff, the passenger suffered severe chest pain, intense shivering, and uneasiness, leading to her fainting and completely losing her pulse. Dr Nimbalkar, a trained medical professional seated nearby, immediately took charge. She quickly assessed the situation, directed the cabin crew, and administered CPR while continuously monitoring the woman's vital signs for approximately 1.5 hours. Her prompt actions stabilized the patient sufficiently for a safe landing. Paramedics and an ambulance were ready at Delhi airport to rush the woman to a hospital, where she has reportedly recovered well.
Dr Nimbalkar's Impact: A former Congress MLA from the Khanapur constituency, Dr. Nimbalkar effectively balanced her political role with her medical expertise. Her composure and medical skill under pressure transformed a routine flight into a life-saving mission, earning commendation from co-passengers and crew.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah publicly praised her on X (formerly Twitter) for her "remarkable presence of mind" and selfless service that transcended politics. The Karnataka Congress celebrated her actions as a reflection of the party's values of humanity and courage. The media and social platforms amplified the story, hailing her as a true public servant, highlighting how personal skills are invaluable in unexpected crises.
