Ex Goa MLA Mamledar Dies After Altercation with Auto Driver in Belagavi

Former Goa MLA Lavoo Mamledar passed away on Saturday afternoon following an altercation with an auto driver in Belagavi district. The incident took place near Srinivas Lodge at around 1:40 pm, after Mamledar’s vehicle reportedly collided with the auto. While the exact cause of Mamledar's death is still under investigation, police confirmed that the auto driver has been arrested.

CCTV footage from the scene shows the two engaged in a heated argument, which quickly escalated into violence. Initially, Mamledar was seen confronting the driver, and the argument turned intense. The altercation took a physical turn when Mamledar slapped the driver, who retaliated by slapping him back. Despite attempts from bystanders to separate them, the confrontation continued. The driver then reportedly assaulted Mamledar, leading to the latter collapsing soon after the incident.

Sources revealed that Mamledar was rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the physical altercation directly led to his death or if another medical factor contributed. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter and are questioning witnesses to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

Lavoo Mamledar, a former member of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, had served as a legislator in the Goa Assembly. The sudden death of the former politician has shocked both his supporters and political circles in Goa and Karnataka. His family and close associates are awaiting further details regarding the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

The arrested auto driver is currently in police custody, and officials are working to gather more evidence from the scene of the incident.
