Five College Students Taken To Custody Over Alleged Ragging
The students were allegedly threatened with being cut into pieces if they informed the police or anyone else about the ragging.
Mangaluru: Five second-year students of Srinivas College have been taken into custody in connection with an alleged ragging incident.
According to the complaint, the two students were walking along a public road on August 19 when a group of senior students allegedly forced them onto a motorcycle and took them to a house. They were allegedly locked in a room, forced to remove their clothes and assaulted with a belt, clothes hanger and hands.
One of the accused allegedly attacked the complainant with an iron punch, with the blow grazing the back of his head after he ducked. Another accused allegedly recorded the incident on a mobile phone.
The students were allegedly threatened with being cut into pieces if they informed the police or anyone else about the ragging. They were kept in the room until around 6 pm, the complaint states.
The complaint also alleges that after the students returned to college, one of the accused told them to come to class clean-shaven and without shoes.
The students later informed their families and approached the police. Five students have been taken to custody. A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
