Mangaluru: Eleven Bangladeshi nationals, including four minors, were identified at two construction sites within the limits of Urwa Police Station in Mangaluru City during a verification drive on Monday.

Police said three persons were found at one construction site and eight at another. The detained individuals are residing and working in the city without valid travel or immigration documents. Their documents are being verified.

The seven adults have been identified as Md Nur Amin (34), Md Noyan (24), Md Romjan Ali (23), Md Nahidul Islam (22), Md Humayon Kobir (22), Md Kausar Ali (21) and Md Abdul Rahaman Royel (19). The remaining four are minors—one aged 15, one aged 16 and two aged 17. According to police, all of them are natives of villages under Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi district of Bangladesh.

“Report will be sent to FRRO for orders to detain them and deport. Document collection is in process. A case will be booked against the middleman from West Bengal who brought them to work here along with some Indian labourers from other states of India,” City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy told reporters.

This is the second such incident in a week. On July 10 eight Bangladeshi nationals, who allegedly entered India illegally and had been working at a construction site near Mangaluru, were detained by Surathkal police.
