Elderly Couple Commit Suicide In Bengaluru
Police identified the deceased as Eshwar Achari (73) and his wife Gowri (66). The couple had married their two daughters while they lived separately in their house in Manjunath Nagar. However, the daughters attended their parents regularly and took care of the medical expenses of their mother who was bedridden following loss of movement in her hip.
BENGALURU: Elderly couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at their residence in Manjunath Nagar of Bengaluru on Thursday and the reason suspected by the police for them to take the drastic step to end their lives is attributed to their health issues which could financially burden their two daughters.
Police identified the deceased as Eshwar Achari (73) and his wife Gowri (66). The couple had married their two daughters while they lived separately in their house in Manjunath Nagar. However, the daughters attended their parents regularly and took care of the medical expenses of their mother who was bedridden following loss of movement in her hip.
The couple under the impression they were causing financial burden on their daughters owing to the ongoing treatment for bed-ridden Gowri, took the extreme step to end their lives by consuming poison on Wednesday night in their house. The incident came to notice on Thursday morning after one of the daughters reached the house when her calls went unanswered. On reaching the house, she came across her dead parents.
Basaveshwara Nagar police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
