ED raids institutions linked to Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar’s family over alleged money laundering ties to gold smuggling case involving actress Ranya Rao.

Bengaluru: Sleuths of Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches on the educational institutions run by family members of Karnataka Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar in Tumakuru district. It is alleged that ED searches at institutions belonging to Dr G. Parameshwar is over a money laundering link unearthed by ED with a gold smuggling case connected to actress Ranya Rao. Ranya Rao has been arrested for her alleged role in gold smuggling.
The searches were conducted on Siddhartha Engineering and Medical Colleges run by the Parameshwar family in Tumakuru. Tumakuru is the native of Dr G. Parameshwar.
Karnataka incharge and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Randeep Singh Surjewala criticized the searches by ED on Parameshwar family run institution and termed the searches “as a frustrated reaction of Bharatiya Janata Party and Modi led Union Government to giving of ownership rights to 1 lakh SC./ST families (by Congress government in Karnataka) at Hospet on Tuesday.”
Surjewala accused “The revenge seeking by BJP against Parameshwar is part of sinister design.”
However, Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashoka said Ranya Rao’s Siddharth Education Institution is under ED scanner and demanded action against all culprits in money laundering case as well as in plot distribution irregularities in Mysore Urban Development Authority among others.
Ashoka said Congress leaders must be held accountable for their wrongdoings.
