D.K. Shivakumar Dismisses BJP Link Speculations

Regarding his recent visit to New Delhi, Shivakumar said, “Congress office is like a temple to me and I visit there during my visits and offer prayers there.”

BENGALURU: Over reports of him getting closer to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) especially after his holy dip at Mahakumbh Mela, Prayagraj, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday stated “A lot of speculative things have been posted on social media over I getting invited by Isha Foundation to attend Mahashivratri in Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu.”

“A lot has been written on social media. So far I haven’t met Union Minister of Home Amit Shah, so far,” he told reporters in Bengaluru about an invitation to him from Isha Foundation founder Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev. Adding on the invitation to him from Isha Foundation, Shivakumar said he (Sadguru) came to my residence and was invited to attend Maha Shivaratri.

“He (Sadguru) belongs to Mysuru and I admire him for his knowledge, followers and stature,” he said. “Last time my daughter attended Mahashivarathri in Isha Foundation and this time I’m visiting with my family members,” he said.

On his dip at Mahakumbh Mela, Prayagraj, Shivakumar said “I’m a born and die as a Hindu. Even then I respect all religions. When I was jailed I learnt about Sikhism and its birth, Jainsim have their own stricter philosophy and I love it, likewise I visit dargah and recently visited a church and prayed there.”

“All community (people) love me,” he said and appreciated the management/arrangements done to devotees visiting Prayagraj for Mahakumbh Mela. “It is not an easy job to manage devotees coming in such large numbers barring stray incidents.
