Depressed Person Kills Self After Murdering 3 Of His Family In Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 34-year old Prashanth, a car driver by profession allegedly murdered his mother, grandmother and brother-in-law before he took the extreme step to end his life by suicide at his house in Kottigepalya under Kamakshipalya police station of Bengaluru city on Saturday. The attack by Prashanth on his family members is said to be by using a machete while he ended his life hanging in a room.
Police said Prashanth was treated for mental depression and had stopped availing treatment for a while. In the morning, Prashanth is said to have first attacked his brother-in-law Satish (50) and later hit his mother Mangalamma (55) and grandmother Nanjamma (65) who succumbed to the injuries.
Prashanth lodged himself inside a room of the house and hanged himself. When the incident occurred, family head Chikkanna was away and police were alerted over the incident at around 8.30 am. Police came across the bodies of the four and the dead bodies were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
