Daughter In US Foils Theft Attempt At Parents’ Home In Mudhol

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal said the incident took place post midnight around 1.20 am on August 26.

Bagalkot: A theft attempt at a house in Mudhol was foiled after the owner’s daughter, sitting thousands of miles away in the United States, sensed unusual activity on the home’s security camera and alerted her family.

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal said the incident took place post midnight around 1.20 am on August 26.

“Four to five intruders entered a house in Mudhol through a back window and took away gold from the bedroom, while the family members were asleep in the hall. The gang later tried to break into another house,” he said.

At the second house, the alarm system linked to a CCTV camera alerted the owner’s daughter, who is based in the US, where it was day. She immediately called her father, Hanumath Gowda, who switched on the lights and called the police. By the time police arrived, the gang had fled.

An FIR has been registered at Mudhol Police Station. Additional SP visited the spot and a special team was formed to investigate. CCTV footage has captured partial images of the suspects, the SP said.

He noted that such gangs often follow a pattern, targeting houses in sequence. He urged residents to remain vigilant and inform the police about suspicious movements, assuring that efforts are underway to trace the culprits.

"We are comparing this incident with other cases involving a similar modus operandi and checking if it matches the same gang,” he added.
