BENGALURU: The 64th City Civil Court, Bengaluru Judge on Thursday remanded actor Darshan to judicial custody after the Supreme Court earlier in the day cancelled his bail in the alleged murder of Renukaswami, a resident of Chitradurga in June last year. Darshan along with co-accused Pavithra Gowda, Nagaraj, Pradush and Lakshman were sent to Central Prison, Bengaluru.

An advocate representing Darshan told reporters an appeal has been made to the Court to allow them to file objections if Darshan is shifted to another Prison.

Earlier, police arrested Darshan at his wife’s apartment in Hosakerehalli of Bengaluru city after he arrived in the city from a horse fair in Erode of Tamil Nadu. Sources said Darshan got to know about this bail cancellation through his wife Vijayalaskhmi and returned from Tamil Nadu to reach Bengaluru city.

He intimated the police to surrender before the Court which was turned down by the police. Police made it clear to Darshan that he will be arrested as per the arrest memo of the Supreme Court. Darshan told the police to arrive in the city and proceed directly to Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station in Bengaluru city. As many as 7 police teams were formed to arrest the accused persons.

However, Darshan made a futile attempt to hoodwink waiting policemen at Hosakerehalli. He changed his car en route to Bengaluru city but policemen came to know the change of car by Darshan to enter his wife’s apartment. As soon as he entered the apartment, from the back gate of the apartment, waiting police officers arrested him at the apartment belonging to Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi at around 3 pm. Prior to his arrest, Darshan was shown an arrest memo of the Supreme Court.

Darshan was ferried to Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station and later taken to the residence of 64th CCH Judge at Koramangala of Bengaluru city.

Prior to the arrest of Darshan, his girlfriend Pavthira Gowda was arrested by the police while other accused were also arrested by the police from various locations after cancellation of the bail. Police arrested Jagadeesh and Anukumar from Chitradurga and they will be produced before the Judge on Friday.
