Court Orders FIR Against Home Minister In A Betting Case

BENGALURU: The 42nd Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bengaluru on Tuesday ordered registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar with regard to betting case of Rs 500 with the Tumakuru Deputy Commissioner Subha Kalyan during a boys Kabaddi match held in Tumakuru. Dr G. Parameshwar is the district incharge of Tumakuru and he represents Koratagere Assembly seat in the district. Betting is a punishable offense.

During a kabaddi match played between Dakshina Kannada and Vijayapura teams at the final of State-level Kabaddi tournament held in Tumakuru in October 2025, Dr G. Parameshwar entered into a bet with Deputy Commissioner Shubha Kalyan. Parameshwar lost the bet after Dakshina Kannada team defeated Vijayapura team by a margin of 36-26 points. The Home Minister exuded confidence that the Vijayapura team will emerge victorious in the final match.

At the trophy presentation ceremony, Parameshwar disclosed betting he had entered a Rs 500 bet and had to give the Deputy Commissioner the winning amount.

Taking the betting case involving Minister of Home himself, Nagabhushan, petitioner filed a private complaint in the betting case. The Court asked the Kodigehalli police of Tumakuru to register a First Information Report and conduct a comprehensive investigation into the betting made by the Home Minister.
