Counterfeit Currency Manufacturing Unit Unearthed In Ramnagar, 7 Arrested
An under-construction house in Ramnagar of Bengaluru South district was allegedly converted into a counterfeit Indian currency manufacturing unit before it was raided by Ijoor police.
Bengaluru: An under-construction house at Shantilal Layout in Ramnagar of Bengaluru South district was allegedly converted into a counterfeit Indian currency manufacturing unit before it was raided by Ijoor police on Monday, which led to the arrest of 7 persons in connection with running the counterfeit manufacturing unit.
Ijoor Police Inspector was alerted about the counterfeit manufacturing unit, and subsequently a raid was conducted on the under-construction house belonging to the main accused, Santosh. Santosh, a realtor and a resident of Gattipura, came into contact with Sampath, who revealed to him the plan to start a counterfeit currency notes manufacturing unit at his under-construction house under Ijoor police station limits. Santosh was lured into the business when he was offered a handsome commission for allowing his house to run a counterfeit notes unit by Sampath.
The accused persons have been identified as Santosh, Sampath, Govindaraju, Renukaraj, Rajesh, Shivaraj and Satish. SP Rohan Jagadeesh said, “It was a small manufacturing unit of unfinished product, and later on further processing was taken up elsewhere to give the counterfeit unfinished notes a look to resemble the original currency notes.”
The SP explained the accused used big white rolled bundles in the manufacture of counterfeit notes with certain chemicals. The accused systematically printed yellow/brown colours and dried them under the sun with the help of glass panels. The unfinished counterfeit notes were cut to the exact size of currency notes. Police seized 10 bundles of unfinished counterfeit currency notes estimated to be Rs 5 lakh. Investigations are underway to establish information about the persons involved in the network.
