Corridor Wall Collapses During Student Gathering In Mangaluru, Five Injured

MANGALURU: Five students were injured after a supporting wall collapsed during a gathering at a private hall in Mangaluru on Saturday.
Students had gathered at the first floor of a private hall in Yemmekere for a ceremony to mark the taking over of office by the newly elected student representatives of a students union. With the hall crowded, some students standing in the corridor reportedly leaned against a supporting wall, which gave way.
The students fell along with the wall and sustained injuries. Five students were taken to a private hospital for treatment.
Those admitted to the hospital were identified as Mohammed Shamaz (16), Mohammed Shanan Ahmed(18), Haneef (23), Dawood Farsin Ahmed (18) and Mohammed Shakeel Hussain (18).
Shamaz has been shifted to the intensive care unit for further treatment, while the others are undergoing treatment.
