Mangaluru: Several parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received moderate rain accompanied by thunder in the early hours of Monday. Villages in the Western Ghats and foothills received thundershowers on Sunday evening.

According to officials, the coastal districts are likely to remain cloudy on Monday, with drizzle to moderate rain accompanied by thunder forecast during the day. Rainfall could be heavier along the coast but may reduce after the afternoon.

The coastal taluks of Uttara Kannada are also likely to receive rain during the day.

Scattered evening thundershowers are likely to continue in the coastal districts until October 10.

In north interior Karnataka, Belagavi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal and Ballari districts are likely to experience cloudy weather, with isolated drizzle to normal rain.

A small circulation over the Arabian Sea near Belagavi is also likely to bring rain to parts of the region on Monday.

The Malnad region is expected to receive moderate rain for another one or two days, followed by scattered showers until October 10, after which rainfall is likely to decrease.

In south interior Karnataka, cloudy weather is expected, with several areas of Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Davangere and Vijayanagara likely to receive drizzle to moderate rain during the evening and night.

Rain is also forecast in the south interior districts over the next two days, while rainfall is likely to decrease from around October 8.

The present circulation has contributed to rain in the coastal districts since Sunday. Cloud cover is likely to reduce from Tuesday, though evening thundershowers could continue for another three to four days.
