Karnataka: CM Slams PM Over Emulating 5-Guarantees In BJP-ruled States

BENGALURU: After initial opposition to the 5-guarantee schemes announced by the Congress party in Karnataka (2023) now the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi started to emulate the guarantee schemes of Karnataka in the States ruled by BJP and its allies, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and stated “Don’t you feel ashamed, Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi)?”

The 5-guarantee schemes include Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family, upto 200 units of free power to every household, free travel for women in State run buses and two others.

Now, Siddaramaiah said, the ‘Karnataka model’ of 5-guarantee schemes have been announced in BJP and its allies ruled States of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and now in election bound Bihar.

In Bihar, the Chief Minister said, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Janata Dal United announced 125 units of free power while Karnataka government gives upto 200 units of free power and BJP is into alliance with JDU. Siddaramaiah accused Modi of “spreading lies” over guarantee schemes.

Siddaramaiah said the State Government is spending Rs 55,000 crore annually for the schemes meant for the meant and implemented in the State for poor without caste/religion/political party affiliations and made it clear ‘The 5-guarantee schemes will not stop.’

At the convention, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar also spoke on the same lines and stated “Criticism will eventually die while works delivered will be noticed by the people.”

Shivakumar said “Through the implementation of 5-guarantee scheme, the Congress party is indebted to the voters for voting the party to power in Karnataka.” President of All India Congress Committee Mallikarjun Kharge spoke.
