CM Siddaramaiah's Wife Faces ED Scrutiny Over MUDA Land Deal

Bengaluru: A notice has been served by officials of Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Bengaluru zonal office on B.M. Parvathi, wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking her to appear at its office in Shantinagar of Bengaluru city on Tuesday in connection with alleged plot allotment irregularities to her by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in Mysuru.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the notice served to his notice by ED officials and sources said B.M. Paravthi moved the High Court of Karnataka over ED notice served on her.

In lieu of using 3.16 acres belonging to B.M. Parvathi in Kesare village of Mysuru taluk by MUDA, CM's wife was allotted 14 plots in a posh locality in Mysuru city as compensation by MUDA. Petitioners-T.J. Abraham, Snehamayi Krishna and Pradeep Kumar alleged irregularities in plots allotted to CM's wife by MUDA allotted 14 plots to B.M. Parvathi and the alleged role of Siddaramaiah exercising his political influence to get his wife 14 plots estimated to cost Rs 56 crore.

Along with CM’s wife, Minister of Urban Development Byrathi Suresh, a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also been served notice by ED.

In September previous year, officials of Directorate of Enforcement registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in connection with plot allotment irregularities after the High Court ordered Lokayukta, Mysuru wing to probe alleged plot distribution irregularities in MUDA to CM’s wife. Immediately after ED entry into the MUDA case, B.M. Parvathi announced her decision to surrender 14 plots allotted to her by MUDA.

Three petitions by social activists-Snehamayi Krishna, T.J. Abraham and Pradeep Kumar to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot against plot distribution irregularities in MUDA and sought his sanction to prosecute the Chief Minister. The High Court of Karnataka ordered investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in MUDA plot allotments to his wife. On the orders of the High Court of Karnataka, Lokayukta, Mysuru took up the investigation.

Meanwhile, State Bharatiya Janata Party president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Monday observed the notice to CM’s wife B.M. Parvathi by ED is a huge setback for Siddaramaiah in his legal fight in MUDA allotment irregularities.

ED notice has upset CM’s plans, said Vijayendra and stated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was under the impression of clean chit in MUDA case through exerting influence over Lokayukta investigation which functions under the State Government.
