Byndoor Police Seize Rs 16 Lakh Worth of Equipment in Mining Raid
Police and Mines Department officials raid government land in Byndoor taluk
Udupi: Police have seized two tippers loaded with red laterite stones and four machines allegedly being used for illegal laterite stone mining on government land at Batiyani in Kalthodu village of Byndoor taluk.
The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 16 lakh.
The raid was conducted based on the information provided by the Kalthodu beat officer. Byndoor Sub Inspector Sunil Kumar, along with officials from the Department of Mines and Geology, raided the site at around 1.15 pm on Wednesday.
The seized equipment included two power tiller machines fitted with blades and two stone-lifting trolley machines, besides the two tippers carrying red laterite stones.
Legal action has been initiated against two persons- Ravindra Poojari and Satish Shetty in connection with the alleged illegal mining.
