HOSAPETE: Seven persons, including four college students, were injured when a tourist bus travelling from Guruvayur in Kerala to Hampi overturned near Ammanakeri under Kudligi police station limits in Vijayanagara district in the early hours of Wednesday.

In the mishap, the teacher suffered serious injury to the leg, while the tour organiser and a few students sustained fracture injuries. Some others suffered minor injuries.

Police said the accident occurred around 5.30 am when the bus, carrying 32 students, a teacher from a college, along with a tour organizer, and two drivers on board, was travelling from Guruvayur to Hampi on an educational tour.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver lost control of the bus, following which it toppled on the roadside, police said.

In the mishap, the teacher suffered serious injuries to her right leg, while the tour organiser sustained a fracture in his left hand. Five students also suffered fracture injuries.

All seven were shifted to the trauma care centre in Ballari for advanced treatment. Meanwhile some students sustained minor injuries.

Kudligi police have registered a case and have taken up the investigation.
