Basavaraj Bommai Upset Over Internal Discord in BJP

He says Congress government in Karnataka has failed on all fronts

Haveri: Haveri MP and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has expressed disappointment over internal discord within the BJP, calling it unfortunate at a time when the party should be fighting against the Congress government’s misgovernance in Karnataka.

“In the state, the Congress is engaged in the worst kind of misrule and has failed on all fronts. Common people, farmers, and women are facing hardships, while incidents of violence and suicides are on the rise. Instead of addressing these concerns, BJP is caught in internal disagreements, which is deeply regrettable,” Bommai said in a press statement.

Asserting his stance, Bommai made it clear that he does not believe in factionalism and remains committed to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whom he said the party has provided a strong and effective government at the national level.

"I have never been part of any faction politics, nor will I convene any factional meetings. My effort is to bring everyone together," he added.

Bommai emphasized the need for patience and dialogue to resolve internal issues, urging party leaders to come together under the guidance of former CM BS Yediyurappa and other senior leaders. “This matter must be settled through discussions. If not, we must all abide by the decision of the party’s central leadership,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the BJP high command, Bommai said he believes that the leadership will soon step in, consult key leaders, and take an appropriate decision regarding the party’s affairs in Karnataka.
